Two of Iowa’s largest labor organizations have endorsed Tom O’Donnell, a candidate for Iowa House of Representatives in District 87.
The Iowa State Education Association (ISEA), representing education professionals across the state, endorsed O’Donnell in June. In a statement, ISEA President Joshua Brown said, “We believe Thomas O’Donnell will do what is best for all of Iowa’s students regardless of the ZIP code in which they live and be a voice for education professionals as important decisions are made that impact our students and our public schools.”
O’Donnell welcomed the announcement. “I’ve long supported public schools and the teachers who care deeply about their students’ success,” he said. “They work long hours, not just in the classroom but overseeing and sponsoring extracurricular activities. They welcome all, and teach all, no matter their ability, socioeconomic status or religion.”
Meanwhile, the Iowa Federation of Labor, representing 42,000 members of 280 unions, also has endorsed O’Donnell.
“Working people built Iowa and keep it running,” O’Donnell said. “I’m proud to have the endorsement of the Iowa Federation of Labor. We all do better when workers have a strong voice.
